When you use our contact form: your name, email address, company, project type, budget and anything you write in your message.
When you email us: your email address and whatever you choose to send.
When you ask to join our newsletter: your email address.
When you browse the site: our hosting provider records standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request, to keep the site secure and working.
To reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to plan and deliver the project. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
To send our newsletter, only if you have asked for it. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by replying to any issue or emailing us.
We don’t sell your data, share it for marketing, or use it for automated decision-making.
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the studio: Webflow, which hosts this website and processes contact form submissions; our email provider; our newsletter provider, if you subscribe; and YouTube, which plays our films in privacy-enhanced mode when you choose to watch one.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your data leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an equivalent safeguard.
This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies to keep the site secure and working.
The site also stores a small note in your browser for the length of your visit so the opening animation only plays once. It isn’t used to identify you, and it’s cleared when you close the tab.
If you play a film, YouTube may set its own cookies under its privacy policy.
Enquiries that don’t go any further: deleted within 24 months.
Client and project records: kept for six years after the project ends, for accounting and legal reasons.
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it to be transferred to you or someone else.
Email hello@burnt-orange.com and we’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
If anything here changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
