The Elsewhere Anthology

An anthology of short documentaries exploring one of life’s oldest questions: how to live.

Overview

Elsewhere is an independent anthology of cinematic short films by Evangeline Modell and Toby Roney. Each chapter follows someone who has deliberately built a life outside the conventional path. We step into the world they’ve made, their home, work, routines and landscape, to understand the beliefs and decisions behind it.

The project grew out of our own search. Two years ago we gave up a permanent base and began living nomadically between campervans and temporary homes, after city life had left us stressed, burnt out and disconnected from nature. We started looking for people who had spent decades answering the questions we were asking: What is home? How much do we need? What makes a life feel like your own?

The first two chapters were filmed in Norway. Chapter one follows Randi Skaug, Norway’s most accomplished female mountaineer, and premieres at Kendal Mountain Festival in November 2026. Chapter two follows Roar Moe, who has spent nearly 30 years living alone on the tiny island of Litle Færøy, building Viking boats, keeping sheep and preserving a kind of silent knowledge learned only by doing. We filmed it during his final summer there.

Every film leaves you with one idea worth carrying forward. Together, they’re becoming something larger: a handbook for living, one life at a time.

Elsewhere is made independently alongside our commercial work and supported by our community on Patreon.
